A Chihuahua puppy born in Japan with a natural heart shaped pattern on his coat has captured the hearts of animal lovers around the world.
Heart-kun, as he has been named by owner Emiko Sakurada, was born on May 18, 2007, one of a litter of puppies at the Pucchin Dogs shop.
His natural heart-shaped markings on his fur have made him an instant star in Japan. And it was a case of puppy love across the world as the tiny dog made television appearances worldwide.
Shop owner Ms Sakurada got the surprise of her life when she saw the birthmark heart markings in the fur of her tiny pooch.
She said it was the first time a puppy with these marks had been born out of the 1,000 animals that she has bred.
Since Heart-kun was born, he has brought a lot of luck, according to Ms Sakurada. He sister got lucky on the lottery and won a concert ticket.
Heart-kun's owner has been inundated with requests from people wanting to purchase the unique puppy. But they can keep their paws off him, she says, for her little four-legged friend ain't going nowhere!
Yay!! I am home!!
Its been a crazy week for me and my mommy. I have had tests and they shaved my part of my fur off on my paw. I even had a cathiter in my paw to pump potassium in me to get me feeling better.
But I am home now! I checked out the whole house about three times before I would settle down. Now I am on top of my favorite table, cleaning myself. Ahh, it feels so good to be back home!!
Here are some pics mom took of me when she picked me up at the vet. She was so excited when I hit the door! Man, I missed my mommy!! Sorry the pics arent clear... mommy's cell phone stinks!
This is me Sunday afternoon trying to clean myself...
Well come Sunday night, I wasn't feeling too good.. My mommy was a little worried about me. But I curled up beside her in the bed (which is so unlike me) and the next morning, I was pitiful. My eyes were half closed and glossed over and I was very lethargic. I wasn't even responding to my mommy.
She called Dr. Marley and rushed me to his office. I got to see a Great Dane and two kittens in the waiting room but I didn't even care. I just sat quietly in my carrier and waited to be seen. When the nice nurse starting taking my vitals, I just stared blankly at the wall.
After several pokes from those darn needles and plently of attention from Dr. Marley, they discovered I was diabetic and was in diabetic shock. The doctor thanked my mom for having enough sense to take me in so quickly.
Now I am staying at Dr. Marley's office. I have been here since Monday morning. Two days without my mommy, my bed, my blanky. Just me and whole bunch of other animals getting poked and prodded on. But its all with good intentions. Dr. Marley has assured me that all these tests and injections are to help me. I like Dr. Marley. He is very gentle with me.
My mommy thinks I may be home Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning. Dr. Marley is telling me Friday is the latest. I can't wait to go home! According to the doctor, my sugar level is still going up and down and he is trying o find the right balance of insulin to give me to make me a happy, perky kitty again. But I am feeling a little better. Even cleaned myself twice today and talked to the nice nurse lady.
So, if my furry friends are reading this, I will be home soon but for now I am away at the doctor. Its not really a vacation around here but the people are nice and I have a pretty lady kitty next door to me. Her name is Sasha. She is a oyster color persian. She is having a tooth removed. Snaggle-puss!
Maaahhh.... (thats "hope to be back soon" in kitty language)

I use Yesterday's News. It took me a while to adjust to it because it looked so different but I have come to like it very much. Feels good on my little paw pads too.
